Awarded Best Airport in Europe by ACI/IATA in 2005, Brussels Airport is an international airport located near Brussels, Belgium, which serves as a hub for Brussels Airlines, European Air Transport, Jet Airways, Singapore Airlines Cargo, Eva Air Cargo and Saudi Arabian Airlines Cargo and a private company called Abelag Aviation.
The airport is also home to around 260 companies, together directly employing 6,000 people.
In 2007, the airport served 17.8 million passengers and reported a cargo volume in the same year of 780,000 tonnes. In 2008, the airport served 18,5 million passengers.
A new 'low-cost airlines' pier will probably be completed before the end of 2009. It will be built in the location of the old south pier.
