The largest of Hungary’s five international airports and the second largest airport of the new European Union states, Budapest Ferihegy International Airport serves Budapest and offers international flights within Europe, to Asia, the Middle East and North America.
Located 16 kilometers of Budapest city centre, the airport handled 8.6 million passengers in 2007.
Ferihegy airport is comprised of the main terminals 1, 2A and 2B, and a smaller one for general aviation flights. A new air cargo base is to be built. Transfer between terminals 2A and 2B is convenient enough to be completed on foot.
On March 30, 2008, all Hungarian airports joined the Schengen Agreement. All Schengen flights will be in Terminal 2A, while non-Schengen will be in 2B.
An open-air viewing platform for relatives and spotters is at Terminal 2.
