Formerly known as Montréal-Dorval International Airport, Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport is an international airport which serves the Greater Montreal area as well as northern Vermont and New York. Located in the city of Dorval, 20 kilometers from downtown Montreal, it is the busiest airport in the province of Quebec, the third busiest airport in Canada in terms of passenger traffic and the fourth busiest by aircraft movements.
In 2008, it served 12.8 million passengers and continues to be one of the main gateways into Canada (with 59.7 % of passenger traffic being on non-domestic flights). It is also one Air Canada’s four hubs, serving chiefly Quebec, the Atlantic Provinces and Eastern Ontario.
The airport offers flights to Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe, Mexico, the United Stares and destinations within Canada. It is the only Canadian airport offering non-stop services to Africa.
