| Moscow Domodedovo Airport or Domodedovo International Airport (DME) is located 22 km southeast of Moscow. It is the largest and the most promising Russian airport. It holds the leading positions among Moscow area airports in terms of passenger traffic, and is one of the three major Moscow airports along with Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo.
The airport started an expansion programm in 2003, designed to obtain approval for wide-body aircraft operations. The runway, taxiways and parking areas were enlarged and strengthened. In March 2009 it was announced that the approval had been granted, making Domodedovo Airport the first in Russia approved for NLA operations such as the Airbus A380. |
