| › Sydney Airport Description |
Known also as Kingsford Smith International Airport, Sydney Airport is located in the suburb of Mascot and is Sydney’s major airport, as well as a major hub for Qantas. In addition to being the oldes continually operated airport in the world, it is Austrialia’s busiest airport (in 2007, it served 31.9 million passengers and handled 290,346 aircraft movements).
Next to Botany Bay, the airport has three runways, colloquially known as the "East-West" and two "North-South" runways. In terms of land area, it is the smallest capital city airport in Australia. It is also comprised of three main terminals, referred to as T1 (or, to most locals, the "International Terminal"), T2 (the former "Ansett Domestic Terminal"), and T3 (the "Qantas Domestic Terminal").
